Katania Taylor, OMD, Doctor of Oriental Medicine
Dr. Katania Taylor believes strongly in the importance of integrated medicine. Integrated Medicine implies the use of Alternative medicine and Allopathic medicine (Traditional Western Medicine). She believes that people respond differently to each method of treatment and that applying more than one modality is essential for healing. Finding a balance of these vastly differing medical ideologies and navigating the way through the confusing landscape of medical options is important for every individual.
Education and prevention is the key to wellness. Empowering patients to take back their health and providing an alternative to treating their pain and disease are Dr. Taylor’s goals in working with her patients. While Western medicine has important technological advancements and treatments to offer, the body has its own innate and incredibly powerful self-healing abilities that often only need a little nudge in the right direction.
Dr. Taylor uses acupuncture, electro-acupuncture, cupping, auricular therapy (ear acupuncture), TuiNa (Chinese massage), trigger-point therapy, Chinese herbs and nutrition to treat a variety of conditions. A few of these are pain (acute and chronic), fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, allergies, gynecological issues, digestive problems, migraine/ tension headaches, arthritis, nerve disorders, auto-immune issues, injuries, recovery from surgery, immune insufficiency, chronic or recurrent illness, etc.

She also does Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture, which can increase blood flow to the face, diminish fine lines and wrinkles, stimulate the production of collagen, and add vitality to the whole body.

Dr. Taylor has worked with some of Seattle, Washington’s top pain specialists. She studied under an anesthesiologist, pain specialist and medical acupuncturist at Swedish Medical Pain Center, where acupuncture was integrated with the use of cutting- edge western pain treatments. She worked at Harborview Medical Center in the Chronic Fatigue and Fibromyalgia Clinic treating patients with acupuncture and herbs. She completed a three-year fellowship with one of Seattle’s top acupuncturists working in physical therapy clinics treating patients side-by-side with physical therapists, where the blending of the treatment modalities yielded amazing results. Dr. Taylor graduated from Bastyr University in Seattle with a four-year Masters of Science degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, and is a licensed Oriental Medical Doctor in the State of Nevada. She has a Bachelor degree in International Relations from University of San Diego, CA and is conversant in French and Spanish.
